Sonoco-Trident is the world’s fastest growing and most innovative digital brand management business. They have been using HDR Light Studio for 2 years now.
Let’s see what Sonoco-Trident 3D artists have to say about HDR Light Studio software.
The software allows us to very quickly create very realistic lighting set ups for our CGI scenes. It has completely changed how we build our scenes and allowed us to massively improve the quality of renders we produce.
HDR Light Studio is very easy to use, and gives us full control of specific highlights and shadows with its full spectrum of controls, presets and settings.
The software is perfect for creating studio style product shots, which is the bulk of what we do at Trident. It has everything you need to recreate a virtual photography studio on your desktop. Having the ability to ‘drag and drop’ a highlight means you can focus on creativity rather than technical limitations. Prefect for people who aren’t very technical, like me!
At Lightmap, we enjoy doing customer surveys to understand what you love about HDR Light Studio and what you want us to improve. We are grateful to our customers who took time to complete the survey and share some amazing insights. It will definitely help us shape the software in future.
Through the survey, we found that 98% of customers would recommend HDR Light Studio to a friend or colleague. This is a big achievement for us! Thank you for loving and lighting with us.
“I have been using HDR Light Studio for about 5 years now and it’s my constant companion. I have produced 200+ images and animations lit only with custom HDRI maps”
Brendan McCaffrey is a 3D artist and long time user of HDR Light Studio. We had a chat with him to find out more about his background, 3D tools/workflow and more. Of course this is a great opportunity to showcase his amazing imagery too! Continue reading →
The images were created with 3ds Max, V-Ray and HDR Light Studio. Every shot was lit using HDR Light Studio and the quality of the work is simply stunning. Piotr says “Without HDR Light Studio, lighting these shots would have taken much longer. It was so easy to adjust the lights appearance with the real-time feedback in HDR Light Studio’s render view”.
Her are some examples of the lighting for these shots. It doesn’t look pretty as an image, but it’s how those lights interact with the 3D model and materials that’s important. Each light has been placed using the LightPaint feature, clicking directly on the 3D model in the render view to put the light where it’s needed on the HDRI map.
Here’s some more lovely CGI shots from this project! They are not photographs… honestly.
Thanks so much for sharing Piotr!
The best part of developing creative software is when our customers share their artwork with us. Some images are a cut above the rest and take the quality bar to a higher level, and this is one of those cases. These images by PK3D Studio are absolutely stunning and show how computer generated imagery can truly be a replacement for photography.
PK3D Studio has been using HDR Light Studio with V-Ray for 3ds Max since version 1. It has become the main lighting tool for Piotr’s work in V-Ray. He only reaches for V-Ray 3D light sources once he has the main lighting accomplished using HDR Light Studio.
